Sky Connect (Booth 7428) officials today introduced FORTÉ, an effective, affordable new satellite phone system that delivers full in-flight capability for less than $15,000.
FORTÉ delivers high-quality cockpit and cabin voice communications, a new texting service for the cockpit, and a USB computer connection, all with global coverage through the Iridium network. Each FORTÉ system includes Sky Connect's newest panel-mounted dialer, one slim cordless handset, and a certified Iridium transceiver. Optional configurations can include up to five additional cordless handsets, corded handsets for high-noise cabins, automated tracking, and an additional Iridium transceiver to provide a second phone line.
"FORTÉ is a great phone at a great price," said Wiley Loughran, the company's senior vice president of Sales and Marketing. "It's perfect for the owner who says, ‘I just want to pick up the phone and make a call, I want great sound quality, and I don't want to spend a fortune.'"
The phone system is designed for first-time phone buyers and those who are replacing obsolete systems. "FORTÉ will appeal to owners of Citations, Hawkers, King Airs, and similar aircraft," Loughran said. "These turbine flyers have communications needs that are not being met in an economical manner. FORTÉ addresses those needs perfectly".
Unique to the FORTÉ system is the introduction of two-way text messaging provided by the new Sky Connect MMU-II cockpit dialer. This ultra-low cost messaging service is ideal for managing fleet aircraft, enabling flight departments to exchange data quickly and privately with flight crews.
