Jeremy Miller, a veteran of the air medical industry, has joined Sky Connect as manager of customer support. Miller will be assisting Sky Connect Tracking customers with their implementations of Sky Connect's 3rd generation Tracker-Map™. He will also be responsible for demonstrating the operational uses of tracking in EMS and general fleet dispatch environments.
Sky Connect's web-based Tracker-Map offers aircraft operators with highly configurable capabilities: extensive map data options, including NAVTEQ® roads, Digital Earth® satellite imagery, and USGS topographic maps; user-definable geofencing; custom map objects with data-linking; and other features that make Tracker-MAP the best-in-class solution for airborne fleet tracking.
Miller has an extensive background in public service and most recently served as regional communications manager for air medical operations in the Eastern United States with PHI, Inc.
"Jeremy has real-world experience with dispatch and flight-following operations," said Wiley Loughran, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Sky Connect. "He understands the needs and challenges they face and will be an invaluable resource for our customers."
For example, Miller recalls handling communications during two aircraft accidents — one that involved an aircraft with a tracking system and one without.
"When the first accident occurred, there was no airborne tracking system, and we were notified by a local fire department about the accident. In the second incident, the operations center was tracking the aircraft in real-time and we had assistance enroute within 35 seconds of the accident," Miller said. "It is essential for public safety and commercial operators to understand the value of real-time voice and data communications with their aircraft at all times. My background in law enforcement and emergency medical operations will help make that understanding a reality for these operators."
Prior to his work at PHI, Miller was a paramedic and communications captain for Mercy Regional EMS in Paducah, Kentucky. He also has a background in law enforcement.
